Greg Stone has been working in youth ministry and with young adults for his entire career. “I have a heart for young adults at this transitional stage in life,” Greg says. And as Mentor Recruiter, he’s responsible for securing, training and encouraging the mentors on staff at Shelterwood.
The mentors, are recent college graduates who live in residence with Shelterwood students and “play an important role in the growth of the students,” Greg says.
Greg recruits these students, working with career services at colleges and universities across the country, as well as professors and college pastors. Once they become mentors, the relationship grows: Greg continues to lead, encourage and challenge them during their year-long position at Shelterwood.
“I see a greater need for mentoring than ever before in today’s culture,” Greg says. “At Shelterwood, we’re really going into battle alongside these families. The mentors and staff are diving in and helping them.”
When he isn’t serving Shelterwood, Greg enjoys spending time with his two sons and his wife of more than 20 years, Jodi. As a family, they like to be active, enjoy the outdoors and explore the Ozark Mountains, where they reside.
