Chad Smith // Executive Director of Admissions/Outreach

For the past 25 years, Chad Smith has worked with teens, the last 10 at Shelterwood. Chad began his journey at Shelterwood as an English teacher, then expanded into the role of Academic Dean. Moving from the school into program administration, he has spent the last several years serving as the organization’s Program Director.

Chad’s highest goal is to see teens find their incredible and unique identity and loves seeing families restored in the process when wounds and relationships are healed. Chad has a passion to see struggling teens heal through unconditional love and encouragement and looks forward to leading and equipping the incredible Shelterwood staff to serve students and families well.

Chad has four kids and is a Kansas City native. He holds a Bachelor of Biblical Literature from Ozark Christian College and is a certified ELA teacher with ABCTE. In his spare time, he loves following Kansas City sports teams, cycling and playing bass guitar.

Jane Lawrence // Registrar

Jane Lawrence joined the Shelterwood team in 2005.  Starting out as the School Registrar, she has since also taken on the role of Main Office Administrator, and is often referred to as Shelterwood’s “air-traffic controller.”  Originally from the Philippines, Jane comes to Shelterwood with a heart for ministry. After attending The University of the Philippines, Jane went on staff with Student Venture, where she met her husband, John. As a mother of two teen daughters, Jane relates to the students like they’re one of her own.  “Miss Jane,” as they call her, not only helps determine their school schedules, but also helps students who need it take a break and process with her.
